Oarsome Challenge

Jul 10, 2025

Next Tuesday (15 July) a crew of eight Quintin members will be taking part in the London Youth Rowing Oarsome Challenge. The challenge takes the form of a 17 mile row from Greenwich to Quintin in an eight-oared skerry (a type of fixed-seat boat). It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that our crew are excited to take part in.

If you are in Central London you may see the boats on the river, they depart the east end at 11.40am and are estimated to pass under Putney Bridge at 15:30. Feel free to join your crew at MAABC for drinks afterwards to celebrate them completing the challenge!

We are aiming to raise £2,000 and every single donation counts. The event is run by London Youth Rowing and £800 of the amount raised will go towards their work of encouraging young people to be active by enabling them to participate in rowing. Anything over the £800 will go to Chiswick Rowing Trust for fitting out the new boathouse.
