A Win at Henley Masters

Jul 13, 2024

Graham Bagnall stroked a Quintin / Carrick RC / Thames RC composite quad scull to victory in the Masters I event at Henley Masters Regatta today. In a straight final they beat Royal Chester RC by 1½ lengths (no time taken).

Earlier in the day the club had two eights racing, with some personnel doubling up in the Masters G and Masters H events. The Masters H heat was raced in the morning against Detroit Boat Club from the USA and the Americans just held off Quintin to win by one foot, in a time of 3 min. 38 sec. Detroit went on to win the final against a Weybridge / Walton composite by 1½ lengths. In the afternoon the Masters G semi-final was against perennial rivals Star Club / Bedford RC composite, who took victory (again!) by one length in 3 min. 28 sec. The composite crew went on to beat Tideway Scullers in the final by 2½ lengths.
