Bill Dennis

Mar 19, 2025

Bill Dennis, a stalwart of the club since the late 1970s, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5th at the age of 79 after suffering an aggressive cancer. He will be remembered as one of the original “barflies”, competing in head races and regattas in the 1980s. Bill also lent a hand in coaching some of the club’s less-experienced rowers at that time and continued rowing and sculling until quite recently.

Bill’s funeral will take place at 1pm on Tuesday, 1st April at Haycombe Crematorium in Bath. There will be a wake at Bath Mill from 2-5pm. Bath Mill is less than a mile from the crematorium.

In the photograph below, taken at the Christmas 1993 sherry party, Bill is second from the right.
