Dewar Shield – Race Report

Feb 15, 2025

Today one of our coaches Simon Hunt took part in the Dewar Shield and this is his race report.

Today I took part in the Dewar Shield, a race between AK, Furnivall and Sons of the Thames. A time trial starting at Chiswick Bridge with the finish line at Furnivall Rowing Club.
I raced in a quad with three other coaches and despite never having rowed together, posted a fast time and with adjustments for class of boats, came third overall.
Unfortunately Furnivall (a club I also coach at) didn’t win the competition and AK now have the giant shield hanging in their bar.
