Erection of Boat Tent

Jun 29, 2024

On a glorious (for once) June day a dozen or so volunteers turned up at the boathouse to erect the first of two boat tents which will house the single sculling boats while the boathouse is being rebuilt. With the boxes of parts unpacked it was a challenge to make sense of the instruction sheets and at times it very much felt like “two steps forward, one step back” when structural pieces were found to be the wrong way round or in the wrong place. Eventually, however, the structure began to take shape and, after four hours of solid work the edifice stood proud in the grounds alongside the green shed.

Our captain, Duncan Hughes, kept the working party supplied in refreshments (water and ice-cold beer) while Adrian Ballardie made a photographic record for posterity. Thanks go to all those who lent a hand!
