The club had three crews competing at the second day of the Metropolitan Regatta on Sunday; an open coxless four, an open coxed four and a women’s coxless four. The “Met” is run on the 2000m. course at Dorney Lake and the format for all events consists of a time trial to rank the competitors followed by a number of 8-lane finals, denoted A, B,C etc.
Our newly-formed open coxless four were ranked in the time trial to race in the B final, where they finished seventh in a time of 6 min. 32.36 sec, ranking them 15th overall. We hope to see some improvement when they race at Marlow (Dorney Lake again!) on 20th June. The crew: Oscar Bird, Elliott Kemp, Joe Wolfin, Balthasar Issa. Full results of the B final may be found at https://rowresults.co.uk/results/metsun26/Race17.pdf.
Our open coxed four, essentially a novice crew, were pleased to make the D final in a field of 35 crews. They got off to a good start and led the field at 750m. but had slipped to fourth by halfway and finished sixth in 7 min. 20.91 sec. The crew: Sam Allen, Aarush Sahoo, Titus Song, William Song, Alice Channon (cox). Full results of the D final may be found at https://rowresults.co.uk/results/metsun26/Race32.pdf.
Our women’s coxless four had a bad time trial and were ranked in the C final but made amends by winning their race in 7 min. 51.43 sec. with a comfortable eight second margin over Cambridge 99, an improvement of six seconds over the time trial. The crew: Katia Zeddam, Isobella Laws, Connie Smith, Anya Burtt. Full results of the C final may be found at https://rowresults.co.uk/results/metsun26/Race76.pdf.
