The Women’s Eights Head of the River Race took place this Saturday over the traditional championship course from Mortlake to Putney, starting two minutes early at 12:13 pm. The club entered three crews, but on the day one of them fell short of personnel with no substitutes available and had to scratch.
The race was won by the Leander Club in a time of 18 min. 18.4 sec. The Masters pennant was won by the Upper Thames/Strathclyde Park/Bedford/Blacksheep/Bristol University composite Masters D crew in a time of 20 min. 25.5 sec. Our Masters C crew finished 217th in a time of 22 min. 16.6 sec. and were sixth of the seven Masters C crews. Our Masters D crew finished 288th in 23 min. 34.7 sec. and were ninth of the ten Masters D crews. There were 327 entries in the race but thirteen crews did not start, leaving 314 to complete the course.
A great experience for all our competitors (and a long paddle back from Putney!).
